Martingale

Martingale is one of the most exciting but at the same time most dangerous betting systems played in soccer betting. It is usually played in predicting draws in soccer games. CAUTION: Avoid playing this game unless you have really studied it and have money to waste. In general use this information to ponder and avoid playing this system because many have lost fortunes playing it.

If a typical soccer game gives an average of 3 for a draw one can proceed in the following manner:

  1. Begin with an amount let's say a 5 euro bet
  2. If one wins the profit from that prediction is 10 euros as mentioned in the box (3x5=15 revenue minus the 5 euro initial bet)
  3. If one loses he replays the bet only double in value! So instead of 5 one puts a 2x5= 10 euro bet
  4. Theoretically as the table shows one can go on and on (if he's got the capital to do so) until he reaches a draw and always make a profit.
  5. The L (stands for lose so far) is how much money one has lost so far (including previous bets). That's why the third bet has L=-35 (20+15)

AMOUNT W L PROFIT
5 15 -5 10
10 30 -15 15
20 60 -35 25
40 120 -75 45
80 240 -155 85
160 480 -315 165
320 960 -635 325
640 1920 -1275 645
1280 3840 -2555 1285
2560 7680 -5115 2565
5120 15360 -10235 5125

This betting system has 2 obvious drawbacks:

  1.  If one is unlucky enough to reach 10-12 rounds, the next bet gets extremely high (and this can happen)
  2. The market depth (how many bets are to be met to your bet) is limited. This holds especially true in betting exchanges i.e. Betfair and has its limits too on bookie sites i.e. Bwin.So even if you got a bundle of money to take you on and on in doubling at some point you won't be able to match your money with others betting the opposite of you (your bet is always matched with someone else's opposite bet in exchanges)
